The book of James is considered to be the “Proverbs of the New Testament”. James instructs his audience to live accordingly to the wisdom given from above. In times of persecution and poverty, James offers hope to the Christian in their tests and trials because of God’s faithfulness. At the same time, James emphasis on “faith without works is dead” is the vivid reminder that if one is truly justified in Christ, faith will result in good works. As a result, the book of James help us understand more about a Gospel-centered life, the importance of community, and the pressing need for mercy and justice in today’s society.
